Craig Boswell was appointed the new SARACCA (South African Refrigeration
& Air Conditioning Contractors Association) president at the end of 2007. He is a partner in Two Oceans Air Conditioning,
which has been a member of SARACCA since 1998. Before being elected President ,
Craig was the Western Cape branch chairman.
Having been more actively
involved in the organisation for the last 5 years, Craig explains that
SARACCAs main goal is to bring the contactors together for the improvement of
the industry, specifically where onerous contractual conditions are forced onto
sub-contractors. His responsibilities are to run the organisation along side
Barney Richardson, who is the Executive Director.
Over the
last few years it has become clear that the industry is lacking in trained
individuals. According to Cold Chain News, this is why SARACCA has decided to
focus on training and wants to introduce the following courses: basic split
unit installation & refrigeration, unit standards training, pipe fitting
and welding course. Another issue that Craig wants to tackle is the obvious
generation gap within the industry. The idea is to initiate a drive for younger
people to join not only the industry, but SARACCA as well. |
