Representatives from Güntner
gathered with other industrial refrigeration experts for the IIAR Conference
2008 held in Colorado, USA. Sustainability was the theme of this conference
which included presentations, papers and discussions on the latest experiences
and developments in Ammonia Refrigeration.
Engineers, contractors,
end-users and managers continue to use this annual IIAR Conference as a
training and development resource to strengthen skills and share knowledge,
especially on sustainability, safety and performance. The technical program
covered topics such as a case study of pipework failure due to hydraulic shock,
energy efficiency achieved by applying VFDs, estimating refrigerant release
quantities, chemical security updates, and many other design and operations
issues.
Heinz
Jackmann of Güntner AG & Co. KG delivered a presentation on the use of
air-cooled condensers with ammonia chilling systems. Güntner installed its
first air-cooled condenser for an ammonia system in 1967. Careful review of the
climate, load profile and refrigeration system design parameters can indicate
when air-cooled condensers offer sustainable operating cost savings for the
application, reveals the companys press release. |
