Ventilation is important to any kitchen, but for consumers it can be
confusing when faced with so many choices while shopping for the right kitchen
ventilation system. To help, the Home Ventilating Institute (HVI) has released a new
brochure, Range Hoods, A Consumer Guide. The brochure covers the definition
and purpose of range hoods, why they are necessary, and what to look for when
purchasing a range hood.
Range Hoods, A Consumer Guide, outlines factors that should be taken
into consideration when looking for a range hood, which include function, form
and performance. The brochure also details how to know if the range hood
purchased will perform to the manufacturers claim. When purchasing a range
hood, it is important to look for the HVI Certified label. The HVI Certified
label provides the assurance that the product was tested and certified to meet
industry standards, will perform as promised, and when installed properly, will
guarantee appropriate ventilation is achieved to maximize indoor air quality.
The brochure is available for download in the publications section of
the Resource Library on the HVI website. According to the institutes press
release, a new consumer brochure will also be available on Heat Recovery
Ventilators (HRVs) and Energy Recovery Ventilators (ERVs) later this spring.
