IKK, the International Trade Fair for Refrigeration, Air
Conditioning and Ventilation, will not take place in 2008 in Stuttgart as a result of a discussion between
the VDKF (German Association of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning) and Messe
Stuttgart. The VDKF and Messe Stuttgart realised that the existing result did
not do justice to the standard of the brand name IKK and that of the Stuttgart
Trade Fair Centre as a high-tech location and, therefore, withdrew from the
competition, reveals the organizers press release.
The refrigeration and air conditioning specialist show was launched
over 30 years ago in Stuttgart,
highlighted Güntner Oettinger, the Patron of IKK 2008 and Minister President of
the Federal State of Baden-Württemberg. This
was seen as the ideal new venue for IKK due to the numerous companies in the
refrigeration and air-conditioning sector that exist in Baden-Württemberg.
Also, the new Stuttgart Trade Fair Centre was expected to attract visitors to
IKK in its change of location. Still, in October 2008 the industry will see
only one trade fair, Chillventa, which takes place in Nuremberg.
The explanation for this situation had already been given by the Air
Conditioning and Refrigeration European Association (AREA) in the beginning of
2007: All stakeholders agree on the fact that there is room for only one
international (European) and biennial major exhibition to complement the
national and regional initiatives. |
