AERCO, a leading company in high-efficiency boilers and domestic water heaters, recently introduced the SmartPlate line of water-to-water heaters that help reduce system energy costs by utilizing innovative brazed plate and plate and frame designs uniquely suited for use with high-efficiency condensing boilers. Capable of supporting up to 90 gpm domestic loads at a 100° F rise, these fully packaged, instantaneous heaters deliver precise temperature control to support domestic hot water (DHW) requirements in commercial and institutional environments.

According to the company’s press release, the units can utilize boiler water as little as 5° F above the required potable water temperature to yield system-wide energy savings. Specifically, such a system design will minimize radiation losses while also helping drive the low return water temperatures within the boiler loop to maximize the opportunity to operate the boilers in high-efficiency, condensing mode.

In addition, each SmartPlate heater utilizes a counter flow, stainless steel, brazed plate or plate and frame heat exchanger - the most efficient heat exchangers available for indirect water heating - in an instantaneous design that eliminates the need for storage tanks and blending valves. The fully packaged solution includes a control panel and sensors, a potable water side circulator with clean out connections, DWH drain valve as well as shut-off valves.
