WR Refrigeration has become the first commercial refrigeration contractor to achieve City & Guilds wraccreditation as a training provider. Following the accreditation, WR is now rolling out a national programme to train its 300-plus engineers under the 2079 refrigerant safe handling scheme. In addition to training its own engineers, WR is opening up the training facility to other companies as a fully fledged commercial training provider.

The accreditation covers the company’s state-of-the-art national training facility in Birmingham, which has been equipped with the latest training and demonstration technology, including a working mini supermarket operating on carbon dioxide.

“We are delighted to have achieved City and Guilds’ approval. It underlines our commitment to deliver the very best possible service for customers,” said Patrick Mullins, WR’s marketing director. “Many thousands of engineers have to be trained and certificated over the coming year. There simply isn’t the capacity in the UK training sector to achieve this in the timeframe. Our newly accredited Birmingham training centre is ideally placed to offer this service to companies across the country,” Mullins added.
