| mass |
quantity of matter in a body; measured in terms
of resistance to acceleration by a force, i.e., its inertia. In SI the standard
unit of mass is the kilogram (kg); in I-P it is the slug. Compare weight |

mass of a substance flowing per unit time |

| mass transfer (mass transport) |
transfer of one component of a mixture, relative
to the motion of the mixture. It is the result of a concentration gradient.
