On the occasion of the General Meeting of Members held recently in Budapest, the members of AREA (Air Conditioning and
Refrigeration European Association) elected the former VDKF President Christian
Scholz as new President. Christian
Scholz, previously Vice President of AREA, thus succeeds Jean Jacquin from the
French partner association SNEFCCA (French Refrigeration,
Professional Cuisine and Air Conditioning Trade Union)
in office.
10 of the 12 countries entitled to vote attended the meeting in Budapest or had
their votes transferred (ÖKKV Austria to RACG/HVAC England and BIV Germany to
HRACA Hungary). The vote in favour of Christian Scholz as new AREA President
was unanimous. Through its transferred voting right, the BIV actually voted
against Christian Scholz. However, the VDKF voted for Scholz. As per the AREA
statues, the German vote (thus far 2 members of a country always reached a
consensus) was not counted in the vote. I.e. the result was 9 out of 9 votes in
favour of Christian Scholz. Norman Mitchell from the English partner
association RACG/HVCA was also unanimously elected as AREA Special Delegate for International Exhibitions.
According to the associations press release, the AREA meeting in
Budapest also saw the official signing of a cooperation agreement concerning
the immaterial support of AREA for the IKK International Trade Exhibition for
Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Ventilation with IKK Messe- Wirtschafts-
und Informationsdienste GmbH. |
