Thursday, 06 December 2007

cholodexpo, russian, sports, refrigerationCholodExpo Rossija, which will be taking place in Moscow on February 19th – 21st, 2008, offers access to large investments in nationwide winter sports projects, such as  the 2014 Olympic Winter Games. The Russian town of Sotchi, a Black Sea spa with 330,000 inhabitants, was appointed to organize this important event and all sports facilities and infrastructure must first be built.

According to estimates by the Russian Ministry of Economic Affairs, 230 agreements and declarations of intent for new projects worth a total of 23.2 billion US$ were signed at the international “2007 Sotchi Investment Forum”. Investments are also planned for sport projects in other regions of Russia in the coming years – for example, ice sport arenas are to be built in Toljatti in the Samara region (investment volume: 35 to 40 million US$) and in the Nischni-Nowgorod region (investment volume: 50 to 60 million US$). The large upcoming projects in Russia offer attractive prospects – especially for the European refrigeration industry.

According to the expo organizers’s press release, the conference at CholodExpo Rossija is also partly concerned with sport – the agenda includes international standards for the construction of ice arenas and the evaluation criteria for the design and operation of sports facilities.
