At the 2008
Hydraulic Institute Annual Meeting, an extraordinary panel of end-users of
pumping systems led by Douglas Kaempf, Program Manager, Industrial Technologies
Program, Office of Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy at the U.S.
Department of Energy (DOE), presented on the topic of The Push for Energy
Efficiency in Pumping Systems. Hydraulic
Institute (HI) and Pump Systems Matter (PSM) continue to expand the knowledge
base of their websites by making these educational presentations available at www.Pumps.org and www.PumpSystemsMatter.org.
Each of the presentations highlights methods and case studies for reducing pump
system energy costs, while increasing energy efficiency. In his 20-minute
presentation titled The Push for Energy Efficiency in Pumping Systems Douglas
Kaempf speaks extensively about the DOEs effort to help American businesses
reduce industrial energy intensity 25% by 2017. This includes detailing the
synergy between energy, the environment and U.S. competitiveness, as well as
the necessity to treat energy as any other natural resource. Other
presentations by several leading industry experts are being offered by HI and
PSM, such as Rex Noble, Engineering Supervisor at FPL Services LLC, who discusses
Variable Speed Pumping for a District Cooling System, reveals the
organizations press release.
