SMACNA recently announced efforts to recognize “sustainability” as a key issue in the future of SMACNA contractors, and took on the Energy Star Challenge, a project within the Energy Star Program, and a national call-to-action effort to improve the energy efficiency of America's commercial and industrial buildings by 10 percent or more.

As a new Energy Star Partner and as part of the challenge, SMACNA will be promoting energy efficiency through the work of various councils, committees, and departments; work with other organizations with a common goal of sustainability; and education of members on the benefits of energy efficient projects.
