More than 50 key stakeholders from European governments, industry, NGOs and academia gathered at a heat pump workshop on November 17 in Brussels to discuss barriers and opportunities for heat pumps in Europe. The outcome of the event was crystal clear: awareness, quality and carefully tailored incentive schemes are essential to tap the full potential of this renewable energy technology.

Jan Bøezina, Member of the European Parliament (EPP, Czech Republic) hosted the event which was organised by the European Partnership for Energy and the Environment (EPEE) representing the refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump industry in Europe.
In his introduction he made it very clear that heat pumps are extremely important for Europe in order to reduce our environmental footprint and dependency on conventional energy sources.
Andrea Voigt, EPEEs Director General summarized: Our workshop allowed key stakeholders coming from very different horizons and looking at heat pump technology from totally different angles to exchange experiences and to learn from each other. We will now develop an EPEE Heat Pump Manifesto based on the outcome of the workshop to promote and establish heat pumps as a key technology to help reach the EUs 20-20-20 target.
