HVAC R & Plumbing Instructor Workshop approaches "Peak Oil" and Energy in USA |

 Two dynamic general sessions will bookend the 2007 HVAC R & Plumbing Instructor Workshop sponsored by ACCA, ARI, CARE, GAMA, HARDI, NATE, PHCC Educational Foundation, RSES and SkillsUSA. The Workshop will be held March 28-30, 2007, at the National Conference Center in Lansdowne, Virginia, informs a press release from PHCC, Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors Association.
James McGarvey, Executive Director of the New York State Weatherization Directors’ Association, will address the opening session on Thursday March 29 and his topic is “’Peak Oil’: Myth or Reality?” Many sober voices say the coming energy crisis is the biggest problem facing USA today. McGarvey will cover what the U.S. Department of Energy’s Hirsch Report, the IEA Energy Outlook, the U.S. Army Corps’ Energy Study, and other reports have to say on the topic. Discussions will center on what the implications are if the world is at “Peak Oil” as well as the solutions to the problem.
The closing session on March 30 will feature Chandler von Schrader from the U.S. Department of Energy. He will speak on the issue of “Energy in America” with an emphasis on Energy Star success and current direction, energy supply and demand including demands for heating and cooling of buildings. Today’s prospects on alternate energy sources will also be a part of Von Schrader’s remarks.
The HVACR & Plumbing Instructor Workshop is recommended for all plumbing and HVACR instructors, administrators and counselors in secondary programs, post-secondary programs and proprietary programs. In addition, plumbing and HVACR apprentice program instructors and administrators as well as apprentice program advisory committee members are encouraged to attend.
