The 11th Cold Chain
Education Program, which will be taking place on February 25th 26th,
in Amsterdam, Netherlands, is the
only event in Europe that focuses completely
on the cold storage, refrigerated warehousing, distribution, and transportation
industry. With 22
exhibitors, IARW/WFLOs trade show is completely sold out despite the fact
that this year there is a special room plus atrium available.
It is expected to reach the all
time record number of 135-140 participants, and besides the 13 European
countries currently on the list, registrations have also come in from South Africa, Mexico
and the USA.
Furthermore, the combination of strategic and operational oriented speakers has
encouraged IARW/WFLO members and non-members to register not just upper
management but middle management as well. Subjects addressed during the
program will include productivity vs. below-zero working conditions, case
studies in labor efficiency, lift trucks for the refrigerated warehousing
industry, challenges & opportunities in the EU labour market for cold store
employees, storage of wind energy in cold stores, cold chain challenges at
the world´s largest flower auction, among others.
Another set part of the program is the Tuesday afternoon facility visit.
According to the organizers press release, this time the group will have the
opportunity to take a closer look at the cold store of Daalimpex in Velsen (owned
by Eimskip). This facility has a capacity of 600,000m³ and is located directly
on the water. It offers bulk and rack storage, controlled temperature from -30°C to +7°C, 6 freezing tunnels for
shock freezing, and a customs bonded warehouse. Daalimpex is a leader in the
European cold storage market, with a total capacity of 1.5 million cubic meters.
