The American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE) has joined forces with Partners GREEN
and will be hosting one of the largest renewable energy
conferences, Renewable Energy Technology Conference and Exhibition (RETECH) 2009 in Las Vegas, NV
from February 25th-27th. Green Schools
will be one of the featured sessions, hosted by the U.S. Green Building Council
(USGBC).
The basic concept of the new approach to greening
schools encompasses construction of a building, all energy systems within the
building with a focus on energy efficiency, affordable renewable energy
technologies, and an experiential educational component permitting the students
to carry messages of renewable energy and energy efficiency back home.
The best green
schools dont only save energy, water and money they also train the next
generation of green leaders and innovators by using the school itself as an
interactive teaching tool. Taking advantage of a schools green features to
introduce children early and often to sustainable practices will produce a generation
of sustainability natives, for whom green choices are natural and instinctive,
said Rachel Gutter Senior Manager, Education Sector of the USGBC. |
