I'm currently getting estimates for replacing the original natural gas boiler in our house. We have asked around the neighborhood and feel comfortable that we are getting estimates from quality contractors. However, how do we know which companies are good manufacturers of gas boilers? Who are the best names out there in terms of reliability and longevity? Are there websites (preferably free or low-cost) that have reviews and/or ratings? I have been disappointed with what I have found online even from the likes of Consumer Reports.

So the quick question is - Who makes the best performing and most reliable gas boilers?

Most problems with HVAC equipment, especially hydronic, is improper installation or other non-equipment related problem. Most boiler section failure is from taking on fresh water, something warranty will not cover.

I had some trouble with recent Williamson's oil furnaces. Williamson is owned by Weil-McLain's parent.

Boiler piping is very critical, especially when combining 2 types of radiation. In floor requires much cooler water temps than _base_board. Got to be done right.
