The Australian Institute of Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heating
(AIRAH) has announced its series of
Pre-Loved Buildings conferences which will be held in Melbourne from November 1920 at the Telstra
Conference Centre in the citys CBD and is now calling for papers.
This AIRAHs innovative conference will coincide with AIRAHs annual
awards ceremony held at Crown
Towers on November 19 and
will discuss about erecting new buildings that perform to the highest standards
of sustainability.
According to AIRAHs
technical manager Phil Wilkinson, there is somewhere between 95 to 98 per cent
of all buildings in Australia that are pre-loved, that have generally not
been designed with sustainability in mind. In this environment we need a wider
understanding of the financial, environmental and social benefits of optimised
performance in existing buildings, Wilkinson says. This is especially the
case as energy, water, indoor air quality and refrigerant emissions
considerations become increasingly prominent. |
