The third edition
of the European Energy Forum, held
April 16th 18th in Barcelona, was a success. One of the main goals of the European
Energy Forum was to show society how importante energy is in our daily life and
its direct economic consequences in society as a whole and in its development,
strengthening both the congress and the parallel exhibition as a meeting place
for the major actors of the energy sector at the Catalan, Spanish and European
level.
The European Energy
Forum brought together more than 130 speakers who have presented their
conferences in two parallel rooms: one dedicated to Energy Policy and the other
to Technologies. More that 750 people participated in the congress from several
world countries. As for the trade fair, it joined together more than 40 exhibiting
companies, occupying 3,000 sqm, mainly
from Germany, Italy, China and, naturally, Spain. The visitors were over 2 000,
all of them professionals, reveals the organizers press release.
Josep-Maria Ribes, Secretary General of the European Energy Forum, highlighted,
as far as concerns the exhibiting companies, the Australian company PETRATHERM,
dedicated to the production of electrial power and to the direct use of
geothermal energy in the form of heat for heating an entire neighbourhood. In
Spain this company has a project in Madrid and another at Tenerife island. The
system consists of taking energy from underground hot rivers by drilling holes
at a depth of 2 to 3.5 km
and then to use the hot water thus obtained in the corresponding exchangers, he
explained. This method can supply heating to an area of up to 200,000 inhabitants. |
