The Mumbai Chapter of the Indian Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning
Engineers (ISHRAE) is
hosting the Intercollegiate Engineering Quiz Contest, for the seventh
consecutive year. There have already been two preliminary rounds on
the beginning of March. In each round seven
colleges participated.
According to the organizations press release, the first five highest scoring
teams from the two preliminary rounds will participate in the finals, that
should take place on the 27th of March 2008 at the Sardar Patel College of
Engineering in the afternoon, followed
by dinner. According to Rajeev Kakkar, HVAC Consultant, ISHRAE, the
Mumbai Chapters project competition allows participants to visit manufacturing
and service companies alloted to them to carry out a project. The
interaction between the student and the company provides a mutual forum for
interest and potential professional employment, he stated.
Also, Dr. Sanjeev Jain, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Indian Institute of
Technology, Delhi, recently urged HVACR industry companies to host a few of
their students as trainees in summer 2008 and extend the necessary guidance and
facilities to them. At IIT Delhi, an internship of
50 working days is a mandatory
requirement for the degree, as this allows students to learn about an
industrial setting and apply their knowledge to a specific problem by executing
a project that is of current/future interest to the host organization. The
training is scheduled after the student's 3rd year and this year it commences
on 12th May 2008. |
