Jean-Yves Blanc of Schneider
Electric has been elected as the new president of eu.bac, the European Building Automation
Controls Association. As eu.bac president, Jean-Yves Blanc will
place a special focus on enhancing the visibility of eu.bac as a leading
platform for energy efficiency, in order to secure new members in related
industry sectors and to widen the scope of activities of the association,
especially for residential buildings and energy services.
In addition to electing new leadership and a new board
of directors, eu.bacs annual General Assembly in Brussels earlier this summer was focused on the
future development of eu.bac and work on European energy legislation such as
the European Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD). The progress of
such directives was discussed with invited representatives from the
Directorate-General for Energy and Transport of the European Commission, whom requested
that eu.bac support the implementation of the new energy regulations.
A further step
taken by the eu.bac member companies active in the energy services field is the
foundation of a new association for EPC Energy Performance Contracting. Under
the umbrella of eu.bac this association has the purpose of promoting such
contracting services throughout Europe.
