The International Council of Air-Conditioning, Refrigeration, and Heating Manufacturers' Associations (ICARHMA) held its annual meeting August 8-11, 2010 in Portland, Oregon. The meeting was hosted by the U.S. member to the Council, the Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI), which serves as the 2010 Secretariat.
The HVCA has appointed Neil Griffin to the new senior post of head of operations. Mr Griffin, who joins the Association from the aerospace industry, brings to the role a wide range of experience as a company secretary, as well as in corporate development, property and supply chain management, pensions, insurance and customer liaison.

Under a national Smart Grid effort, ASHRAE and the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) are jointly developing a standard that would provide a common basis for electrical energy consumers to describe, manage and communicate about electrical energy consumptions and forecasts. A kickoff meeting to begin work on the proposed standard is taking place Aug. 30-31 at ASHRAE Headquarters in Atlanta.
New educational sessions are added to the educational program during the RSES 73rd Annual Conference at the Hilton Tucson El Conquistador Golf & Tennis Resort in Tucson, Ariz., on Nov. 9-13, 2010. The conference will focus on education as well as many industry-related topics and the theme will be A Thirst for Knowledge. The RSES Southern Arizona Chapter will host the conference.
