The Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors National Association (SMACNA) will present two stimulating sessions on Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) to help sheet metal and HVAC contractors prosper in competitive markets. Both sessions will be led by Dr. Bradley T. Johnson, a senior consultant at Navigant Consulting Inc. and will take place at SMACNAs 66th Annual Convention in Palm Desert, Calif., from Oct. 11-15, 2009.
The business session, LEED Building for Sheet Metal and HVAC Contractors will assist contractors in understanding LEED, how it might be used as a market differentiator, and whether becoming LEED-certified is the right business decision for their firm.
In addition, another session, Building Information Modeling and Integrated Project Delivery, will present the case that the ideal BIM process is integrated project delivery (IPD). Contractors will learn about the current status of IPD in the industry, including barriers to implementation and the expected future direction. Participants will also learn about the converging forces driving the AEC industry toward integration and the resulting opportunities created by IPD. |
