Last November, the Energy Globe Austria was awarded, in the category fire, to the companies M-Tec Mittermayr GmbH and Hauser GmbH with their Energy Saving System (ES), reports the IEA Heat Pump Programme's Information Centre.
This system uses the waste heat of cooling systems - which is normally not used - for heating. Additionally the heat pump provides in peak-periods indirect energy from geothermal energy. In summer, the system is perfect for efficient cooling of buildings.
The heat is distributed via a floor heating system. With that technology, 30-35% of running costs could be saved. Because of the fact that minus 30% refrigerants are necessary - massive CO2 savings could be reached. More than 30 supermarkets in Austria benefit from the ES. The company M-Tec is specialised in the planning and installation of heat pump systems. Mr. Klemes Mittermayr is a certified heat pump installer, too.
Moreover 1.400 participants attended the show for the Austrian Energy Globe on the 24th of November, 2006. The Energy Globe is awarded to projects from all over the world which make careful and economical use of resources and employ alternative energy sources. The winning projects are presented in the categories earth, fire, water, air and youth at a tv gala, which is broadcast by international TV stations reaching 2.5 billion households. Every year, about 700 projects from all over the world are submitted in the Energy Globe Award competition. |
