The IX Ibero American Congress of Air Conditioner and Refrigeration (CIAR 2007), which will be held in Lima (Perú) from the 18th to the 21th July, is now accepting abstracts of the papers participants intend to present in the event.
According to the event's website, CIAR is an important Spanish and Portuguese forum that discusses themes related to refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation, energy conservation, environmental impact, etc.
CIAR stands for Ibero American Congress of Air Conditioner and Refrigeration which came up by a group of Latin American professionals who suggested themselves to carry out similar congresses focusing on the specific necesities of Ibero American countries during the 1990 ASHRAE Congress in Atlanta (USA).
Therefore, in May of 1991, the first CIAR took place in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, with Alvaro Tapias (Engineer) as President and founder of the group. Subsequently, it has taken place every two years: 2nd CIAR in Madrid, Spain (1993); 3rd CIAR in Sao Paulo, Brazil (1995); 4th CIAR in Santiago, Chile (1997); 5th CIAR in Lisbon, Portugal (1999); 6th CIAR in Buenos Aires, Argentina (2001); 7th CIAR in La Habana, Cuba (2003) and the 8th CIAR in Montevideo, Uruguay (2005).
In March of 2001 in Madrid, the Ibero American Refrigeration and Air Conditioner Federation of Associations was created (FAIAR). Its mission is to support the CIARs organization and to favour the technologic transference between the country members.
During the 2005 FAIAR assembly in Uruguay, the Ecuadorian Association was incorporated. This launched the list of candidates to organize the 10th CIAR for 2009.
