The Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) and the Institute of Refrigeration (IOR) have committing to working together to develop and promote excellence in the refrigeration and air conditioning aspects of building services.
According to a CIBSE's press release, the two Institutions have signed a Memorandum of Understanding signalling the progression of increased communication and collaboration on key issues within the industry. The memorandum was signed at a ceremony held at London South Bank University, prior to a lecture organised by the IOR and the CIBSE/ASHRAE Group.
The lecture, entitled Hybrid Cooling Solutions: Night cooling and mechanical refrigeration, provided an overview of systems that utilise thermal mass in conjunction with night ventilation and looked at successful installation at Stevenage Borough Council offices.
CIBSE President David Hughes said: "CIBSE is delighted to be working with the IOR and believes that refrigeration and air conditioning play an important role within the building services industry. This agreement will allow our organisations to better understand the way in which we can work together to promote and develop excellence."
IOR President, Dr Guy Hundy added: "The IOR is keen to extend the benefits it offers to its members and sees collaborative arrangements such as this as an important strategic move. We know that there is much overlap in the interests of CIBSE and IOR members and we are pleased that we will be working together to serve those interests further in the future." |
