Efficient cooling in cold storage requires an airflow that permeates to all areas of the room. One solution is to add elaborate, and often costly, accessories to cooling modules, but this makes no economic sense, says ebm-papst in a press release.
The most cost-efficient, robust and technically superior solution is to increase the thrust capability of axial fans by substantially improving the airflow performance of the fan.
The design engineers at ebm-papst have been experimenting with Guide Vanes fitted to the discharge side of the fan, which during tests has resulted in a doubling or tripling of the thrust range, depending on the size of the fan. For example, when using a Guide Vane on a 350mm diameter fan, the thrust range increased from 10m to 22m with almost no losses to air performance, efficiency or increase in acoustics levels.
This solution allows for an even permeation of air in cold storage rooms, without the need to increase the heat exchanger surface or increase the air volume to be cooled. Other benefits have been found by increasing the throw of condensers and thus preventing hot air returning to the condenser. |
