ASTM International publishes 'Heat-Air-Moisture Transport Measurements' PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 15 January 2008

ASTM International recently introduced STP 1495 ‘Heat-Air-Moisture Transport: Measurements on Building Materials’.  STP 1495 contains eleven peer-reviewed papers that provide the latest research and standards development activities to ensure the reliable, consistent and meaningful measurement of heat-air-moisture transport through building materials.

astmThis volume was edited by P. Mukhopadhyaya, National Research Council Canada. Topics featured in the compilation cover the importance and necessity of reliably measured hygrothermal material properties and the individual material properties. Some papers identify the need for improvement in existing standards and others point toward new measurement techniques and corresponding standards.

According to the organization’s press release, featured papers include, among others, ‘Modeling the Heat, Air, and Moisture Response of Building Envelopes: What Material Properties Are Needed, How Trustful Are the Predictions?’, ‘Moisture Buffer Value of Building Materials’, ‘Inputs and Analyses: An End User’s Perspective Of Heat-Air-Moisture Data’ and ‘The Effect of Air Flow on Measured Heat Transport through Wall Cavity Insulation’.
