CES Group develops solution for hard-to-control indoor humidity levels PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 08 January 2008

Following extensive research and development, CES Group, which provides innovative, cost-effective, custom-engineered solutions for today’s most challenging HVAC, has developed a nozzle-free, multiple-tube steam dispersion humidification system. Mammoth, a CES Group company, states that the system has proven far more effective than using single duct tube or conventional steam pipe injection systems.

cesThe frame-like humidification system comprises a bank of multiple, evenly spaced tubes that provide instantaneous, evenly distributed steam. The frame is very compact, making it possible to install directly inside either existing duct systems or inside air handlers – which makes it ideal for retrofitting applications. The steam dispersion devices use hole-forming technology to extract the condensate-free steam from the center of the tubes. The design renders jacketed tubes, expensive stainless steel nozzles, and plastic inserts unnecessary. An environment with low humidity can have a detrimental effect on both equipment and personnel. Humidity below 35% can cause equipment and machinery with moving parts to fail due to high voltage static electrical charges. Low humidity can also affect humans by causing painful static electrical discharges; and dry skin, eyes, throat, and nasal passages. Units can be custom designed in a wide range of sizes to address specific needs, allowing for infinitely variable tube spacing and numbers of holes per tube. Short absorption distances are possible because of the special design and the counter flow steam injection.

Steam absorption has always posed a number of challenges in controlling indoor humidity levels, including determining how and where to inject moisture, cost, time spent on maintenance, and space. According to the company’s press release, the nozzle-free CES Group humidification system provides solutions to these challenges: it is cost effective, uses a shorter air handling footprint for all applications, and is manufactured with welded stainless steel to eliminate maintenance.
