SPX Corporation announced that the
Chinese subsidiaries of its thermal equipment and services segment have been
awarded two contracts, totaling $43 million, to deliver dry cooling systems for
Salaqi (Inner Mongolia) and Midong (Xinjiang)
power plants. The facilities are owned and operated by the subsidiaries of
Shenhua Group Corporation Limited, a state owned, diversified energy enterprise
with major businesses concentrating on coal, power generation and
transportation.
"Our dry cooling systems help reduce the water consumption
by approximately 90 percent as compared to other types of cooling systems,
which is in line with the efforts
and policies of the Chinese authorities to save water resources,"
said Drew Ladau, SPX Segment President." The two power plants are expected
to be operational in 2010. It is anticipated that the installation of the
cooling systems for these facilities will begin in third quarter of 2009,
