As Waterloo Air
Products plc is the first company in the UK
to meet the rigorous European standard for the testing and rating of its active
chilled beams, it was specified in the first phase of a 10-year staged
development program at Dublin
Airport. In order to do
this, Waterloo worked closely
with Ventac, its Irish distributor, and with Lynskey Engineering, mechanical
engineering contractor, to design an energy efficient cooling solution in Area 14, a new lower ground floor
check-in area and the Pier D boarding facility which provides direct boarding
and disembarkation for passengers and a more efficient turnaround of aircraft.
Dublin Airport Authority specified
that the building should be as energy efficient as possible, meeting the new
regulations on energy use from the European Union. The range conforms to the
new European standard (PR) EN 15116 on chilled beam testing, which provides
performance data with the highest degree of confidence and to the latest
available specifications.
