SMACNA members efforts to present contractors views to the membership of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) have been successful.
Late last year ASHRAE approved a new contractor-directed committee, TC 7.2 HVAC&R Construction & Design Build Technologies, that will enhance the collaboration of contractors and design-build firms with the ASHRAE membership. TC 7.2 was formed by a group of ASHRAE members comprised of engineers, contractors and trade organizations interested in representing the contracting community within ASHRAE.
According to SMACNA member, Mike McLaughin of Southland Industries and committee chair, TC 7.2s mission is to enhance the collaboration of Contractors and Design Build Firms within the entire ASHRAE membership to ensure that the relevant research, publications, and educational materials promote the design, construction, and operation of resource efficient, high performance buildings.
TC 7.2 is actively providing educational seminars and services within ASHRAE to share the experience of contractors and increase the collaboration between the engineering and construction community. In fact, the TC is hosting an open forum at the upcoming AHR Expo, Jan. 30-Feb. 2, in Las Vegas, titled TC 7.2 The Contactors Link to ASHRAE and welcomes participants to learn about the TC and how they can interact with the group and assist with its mission. |
