The latest version (3.0) of the Siemens Powermanager energy monitoring software for industrial energy management offers new and enhanced report templates, reaction plans, dimension parameterization and virtual measuring stations for calculating company-specific characteristics as well as improved scalability. Another innovative feature is load monitoring, which can be used to monitor preset power limits for user-defined time periods. If it appears that limit values are being exceeded, the system provides switching recommendations and allows circuit breakers to be triggered remotely.
Large and medium-sized companies will be hit particularly hard by rising energy costs over the next few years, forcing them to cut their power consumption for the long term. They can be aided in this by energy monitoring systems, which monitor all measured values on an ongoing basis and indicate where savings could be made. The Powermanager energy monitoring system, part of Siemens' Sentron portfolio, combined with Sentron PAC measuring devices helps industrial companies and operators of non-residential buildings increase their energy efficiency.
In conjunction with the 7KM PAC measuring devices and the 3WL and 3VL circuit breakers from the Sentron range, the software monitors and archives electrical characteristics such as voltages, currents, power, energy values and frequencies. All that you need to use the energy management software for industrial energy management in accordance with EN 16001 and ISO 50001 is a Windows PC and a LAN network for Modbus TCP. Default settings ensure that measuring devices can be ready for use in no time. In addition to Siemens measuring devices, measuring devices produced by other manufacturers can also be read using a Modbus interface.
The power averages of the characteristics monitored are displayed on the user's PC as graphs showing changes over time, enabling different characteristics such as load profiles for different production lines or company sites to be compared to one another. The display also indicates power distribution faults, permitting a swift response to be made. Reports can be drawn up using preinstalled templates, e.g. showing cost center allocation, as a comparison of measured values or as a duration curve. However, they can also be designed to suit individual requirements.
The energy monitoring software can be expanded from a simple system with ten measuring devices right through to a complex solution with up to 1,000 different devices, including cross-site networking with distributed server structures. The latest version also supports the operating systems Windows Server 2008 and Windows 7. The device data for the Sentron 7KT PAC1500 measuring device are preinstalled. Siemens has also added Spanish and Portuguese language options to the energy management software.
The energy monitoring software Powermanager is part of Siemens Environmental Portfolio. In fiscal 2011, revenue from the Portfolio totaled about 30 billion, making Siemens one of the worlds largest suppliers of ecofriendly technologies. In the same period, our products and solutions enabled customers to reduce their carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by nearly 320 million tons, an amount equal to the total annual CO2 emissions of Berlin, Delhi, Hong Kong, Istanbul, London, New York, Singapore and Tokyo. |
