Alfa Laval, a world leader in heat
transfer, centrifugal separation and fluid handling, has recently signed an
agreement to acquire the American company AGC Engineering, Inc., which provides
sanitary plate heat exchanger service and equipment to the dairy and food
processing industries. AGC has a turnover of approximately SEK 70 M and 65 employees.
The acquisition is in line with the
Alfa Laval Groups strategy of structural growth, including strategic acquisitions
and an enlarged scope of Parts and Service, i.e. the Groups aftermarket
business, says Lars Renström, CEO and President. In this case Alfa Laval is
adding a complementary channel for sanitary plate heat exchanger parts, service
and new units to the dairy and food processing industries, mainly targeted in
the USA. AGC will not be integrated into Alfa Laval. The two organizations
will go to market independently of each other according to a multi-brand
strategy.
According to the companys press release, Alfa Laval has also received an order for the successful high
efficiency plate heat exchanger T50, which will be installed in a petrochemical
plant in Saudi Arabia.
The total value is about SEK 190 million and delivery will take place in 2009. |
