CholodExpo Rossija, an international exhibition for the refrigeration industry that will take place for the first time at the Crocus Expo Center in Moscow on 19th February 2008, offers access to the attractive Russian market. Lively building and redevelopment activities and the growing spending power of the population ensure a big demand for refrigeration equipment, insulation and heat pumps. The organizer of the annual international exhibition is NürnbergMesse GmbH, and its internationally operating subsidiary Nürnberg Global Fairs is responsible for organization on the ground together with its local partner, the well-known Giproholod Institute in Moscow.

According to the organizers press release, due to Russia’s extreme climatic conditions and 143 million consumers, it is certainly an interesting market for refrigeration equipment suppliers. Good sales markets exist here particularly for compressors, refrigeration machines, cold store equipment, cold storage cells, air coolers and split systems. The refrigeration industry in Russia has developed very dynamically for almost six years. The annual market volume meanwhile reaches an estimated 220 to 300 million US dollars – the market for refrigeration equipment has grown by 18.4 per cent from 2005 to 2006 alone (source: Chamber of Foreign Trade, April 2007). Experts estimate that 30 to 40 per cent of the equipment and plants in use must be repaired or replaced in the coming years. Also, some 40 per cent of all the machines and accessory parts required in 2005 came from abroad. Russia imports 80 to 85 per cent of the necessary plants and systems – 20 per cent of these are accessories and 60 to 65 per cent complete refrigeration units, which are assembled locally.

The international exhibition is intended for manufacturers and producers in the following segments: refrigeration components and systems, cooling and freezing equipment, insulation, heat pumps, control & instrumentation, automation systems, energy-efficient solutions, installation material and accessories for refrigeration and air conditioning equipment, plus the relevant services. “Our special-interest event is intended mainly for refrigeration/air conditioning and ventilation contractors, the supply trade, operators of refrigerated stores, plant operators, e.g. in the beverage, food, chemical and frozen food industries,” explains Hubert Demmler, Director of the Russian office representing the NürnbergMesse Group in Moscow.
