Emerson Climate
Technologies, a business of Emerson, announced the introduction of
horizontal Copeland Scroll cryogenic refrigeration compressors for research,
medical, institutional and laboratory applications. The introduction of the new horizontal cryogenic
compressor line is intended to phase out the production of vertical Copeland
Scroll cryogenic compressors.
Copeland Scroll cryogenic refrigeration compressors have been designed
to operate with helium refrigerant applications such as MRI machines and
semiconductor or research and development equipment requiring operating
temperatures as low as -450ºF (4ºK). The new horizontal Copeland Scroll cryogenic compressors offer superior
quality, improved performance, higher efficiency and an enhanced operating
envelope, making them the best option for OEMs in this market. These
compressors have also demonstrated exceptional reliability and incorporate a
variety of safeguards that ensure durability, including: an internal pressure
relief valve, redundant motor temperature protectors, special DU bearings for
long bearing life, superior oil management functionality, low-side pressure
design and fully welded hermetic housing.
Two horizontal Copeland Scroll cryogenic compressor models are currently
available: a 2-hp version with 1.873 cubic inches per revolution (CIR)
displacement and 23.5 SCFM flow rate and a 6-hp version with 5.983 CIR
displacement and 76.6 SCFM flow rate. The compressors offer a choice of
operating voltages and are UL and CE approved, reveals the companys press
release.
