Intersolar 2008, the trade show for solar technology, broke all records. The exhibition area was 76,000sqm, which was larger than ever (124% growth), while the number of exhibitors had grown by 65% to a grand total of 1,053 exhibitors – another record. The final poll counted 51,861 visitors (+62%) from 140 countries. Intersolar’s importance as a leading international trade show was underlined by the fact that 44.9% of visitors and 47% of exhibitors came from abroad.

 

“The response was truly overwhelming and we are very pleased about opening up such a successful new chapter for Intersolar at the new Munich location,” says Markus Elsässer, Managing Director of Solar Promotion GmbH, one of the two organizers of Intersolar. This year, the organizers of Intersolar, in co-operation with the German Solar Industry Association (BSW-Solar), presented the first Intersolar AWARD, to be awarded annually by an independent jury and to become an international institution for outstanding technical innovation within the solar industry, honoring novel, ground-breaking products and services in the areas of photovoltaics and solar thermal technology.

Since the Intersolar AWARD was presented on the first day of Intersolar, the winners, including Jörg Vehmeier for PAW GmbH & Co. KG from Hameln, who received the award in the category of solar thermal technology, were able to benefit from increased interest in their products during the trade show. In future, up to three companies will be awarded a prize in each of the categories every year. Supported by the leading associations in the solar industry, such as the European Solar Thermal Industry Federation (ESTIF), Intersolar 2009 will take place in the new trade show center in Munich from June 27 to 29, 2009, reveals the organizers’ press release.
