The Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE), announced new flexible online learning modules, especially designed to building services professionals, who can now learn new skills and refresh existing knowledge in a cost effective and easily accessible way, while maintaining a high quality of information.

There are two types of Online Learning courses available, such as the flexible learning programme and the CPD courses. The first is a series of modules, each module providing a thorough understanding of a subject with 7 hours of structured learning and a bank of material available for further reading. Modules available from August 2009 include ‘An introduction to mechanical and electrical services’ and ‘Heating systems’.

“We recognise that people are now coming into the building services sector without a background in building services. They are going into the industry, often without knowing the basics of building services,” said Jacqueline Balian, managing director of CIBSE Services. “The Online Learning systems bolsters the kind of expertise that newcomers to our industry need.”
