The Unibail-Rodamco solar installation on the Equinoccio Commercial Center received the first prize for “Best Photovoltaic Installation in the Community of Madrid for 2009” awarded by the Community of Madrid government. The award is part of the Madridsolar campaign and recognizes innovative design and a high level of building integration.

According to the company’s press release, the installation, realized by OpciónDos, a leader in innovative turnkey solutions for the integration of solar photovoltaic (PV) technologies in the Spanish market is first in using a unique technology in the Community of Madrid and one of the first in Spain allowing the center to generate 125.000kWh per year.

“We suggested installing Solar Integrated’s SolarRoof Membrane because of the age and leakage problems of the existing roof. The SolarRoof Membrane addressed both project needs – waterproofing and energy generation requirements,” explains Gregory Lukens, General Manager of OpciónDos.
