SWEP® International, one of the world's leading suppliers of compact brazed heat exchangers (CBEs) and related products and services, recently announced the successful completion of its company-wide ISO14001 certification program, the global standard for environmental management systems, which aims to minimize the environmental impact of businesses, for example by reducing pollution and waste.
I made the first public announcement of our environmental plans in April 2008 at the opening ceremony for our plant in Suzhou, China, said Håkan Nilsson, Vice President Operations. ISO14001 certification sends a clear signal to our customers, suppliers and competitors that we are serious when it comes to the environment and sustainability, added Nilsson.
The program began in 2007 with what was then the companys newest plant, in Koice (Slovakia), and ended in Kuala Lumpur when the environmental auditors (DNV) found zero nonconformities on their inspection. This is very unusual, and the team in Kuala Lumpur really deserves congratulations for this performance, says Nilsson. |
