AEE, a non-profit professional society of 8,500 members, recently released its Market Survey of the Energy Industry, which finds 48% of companies that employ AEE members have a greenhouse gas emission policy.

According to Al Thumann, Executive Director of the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE), "The survey represents the most comprehensive and up-to-date polling of professionals responsible for energy efficiency, distributed generation and application of green technologies. The industry is growing due to the dedication of companies to reducing carbon and promoting sustainable development."

The survey is divided into three parts - Market Trends, AEE Income and Salary Trends, and Electric and Gas Purchasing and Energy Services -, and according to the results presented, the average salary for energy engineers is $87,090 with an average additional bonus of $8,486, reveals the organization’s press release. The survey also showed that 59% of those surveyed believe the United States should support the Kyoto Protocol,  79% indicated that distributed generation and cogeneration will become more important because of reliability and security issues, 71% believe that the reliability on the national electric transmission grid has become less reliable over the past few years, and 42% indicated that new lighting technologies will have the highest priority for application at their facility in the near future.
