Trouble Shooting at the Alamo, reveals the
organizations press release. Highlights
of this years conference include several technical sessions, such as:
-
Optimizing the Efficiency of the Supermarket Refrigeration System (Steve
Esslinger, Zero Zone Inc). Topics to be
covered include: piping practices for conventional, distributed and loop
systems; past and present oil management methods; thermal expansion valve
application and adjustment; different temperature control methods and benefits;
head pressure control methods and benefits; and ambient sub-cooling as it
affects system operation.
-
Loads, Loads and More Loads (John F. Walsh, Training for the Trades). Walsh will discuss several topics including:
the importance of heat loads in designing systems; the ins and outs of
computerized methods; how software can help contractors sell against the
competition; the dos and donts of the ACCA Manual J Residential Load
Calculation (Eighth Edition); and the impact of poorly designed systems.
- Energy
Efficient Design and Air Treatment (Jamie Kitchen, Danfoss Inc.) Topics to be discussed include: a review of
psychrometric processes including sensible and latent cooling; the
repercussions of poor humidity management; component design and the effect on
energy efficiency; the performance of thermostatic expansion valves vs. fixed
metering devices; and case studies highlighting the regional challenges to balancing
energy efficiency and air treatment.
Other
sessions will cover Combustion System Analysis for Safety, Efficiency and Opportunity (Bob Dwyer, Bacharach Inc.), Wireless
Temperature Monitoring and Data Collection using the Web (Ebbe Hassl, Invensys
Controls), Field Controls (John Cotton, Field Controls LLC) and Compressor
Starting Problems (Fritz H. Schroeder, OEM Products Inc/Kickstart).
