Alfa Laval, a world leader in
heat transfer, centrifugal separation and fluid handling, has won an order for
air heat exchangers used in diesel engine cooling systems in power plants in Brazil.
The customer is Wärtsilä, who is
a leading provider of power solutions for ships and power plants. The order
value is about SEK 60 million. Delivery is mainly scheduled for 2008. The air heat exchangers will be used in top peak power plants in Brazil.
According to the companys press release, this means that they will operate in
a stand-by mode and with short notice be able to switch over to base load
operation during energy consumption peaks.
This is of course encouraging. We finalized the acquisition of Fincoil
in December and now they deliver our biggest order ever on air heat exchangers.
That is what I call good timing, says Lars Renström, CEO and President
of the Alfa Laval Group. Moreover, our
investment in the air heat exchanger manufacturing plant in Finland will
increase the production capacity in about 20 percent.
