RDM installs in James Hall & Co. convenience store PDF Print E-mail

rdmResource Data Management (RDM), the pioneering HVACR control and energy monitoring company, installs at James Hall & Co., the regional distribution centre for SPAR operations in the north of England, in order to improve the energy efficiency of its stores, raise their environmental credentials and reduce power costs.

According to Frank Frayling, the company’s group engineering manager, “it’s obviously an important issue in terms of both the environment and the economics of running stores. Energy is a big cost to convenience outlets, and refrigeration, heating, ventilating and lighting is a significant component in that,” he says, enhancing the need of a comprehensive control system. “What we needed was a shop-wide monitoring system that would give us an overview of how all plant was performing - from a single point”.

After researching the market, the James Hall & Co. selected the Data Manager System, providing users with an easily accessible window to control the performing of all store equipment, highlighting potential problems and providing opportunities for improving energy performance.

“All of the stores equipped with the RDM control have showed significant reductions in energy consumption. Average savings are in the region of 12 per cent. This translates straight to the bottom line in savings in energy bills,” said Frayling, adding that one store, based at Winsford, has recorded a 27 per cent savings on energy usage.
