In one of the largest projects of its kind undertaken in the food retail sector, Rivacold UK is supplying hundreds of specially designed replacement refrigeration condensing units for one of the UK’s leading supermarkets.

Some 350 of the 50-150kW custom-designed Rivacold units are, for the first time, being manufactured in the UK in order to reduce shipping costs and meet local design requirements.

The Rivacold condensers are being installed by leading contractor Project First, as part of a replacement programme of aging roof-top units across the UK.

Running on R404A, the high performance units have a double skin housing to control noise levels and are equipped with low energy EC motors. All-copper condenser coils deliver enhanced heat exchange performance and extended life.

Graham Barley, managing director of Rivacold UK, said: “It’s a major ongoing project involving retail sites the length and breadth of the country. It’s a significant development for Rivacold, with manufacturing being undertaken in the UK to a specification agreed with the customer.”
