Desigo RX high-quality individual room controllers by Siemens are now certified for
compliance with European standards. This confirms their high energy efficiency
in controlling room comfort: energy savings of up to 14% can be achieved.
Certified products also enable planners to differentiate between the diverse
offerings of controllers on the basis of control quality, so that building
automation systems can be adjusted for optimal energy consumption by choosing
the appropriate device.
Certification is performed by eu.bac, the European industrial
association for building automation, in accordance with its testing and
certification program. This is based on compliance with European standard
EN15500, tests performed by independent testing institutions and inspections of
the manufacturing facilities. The decisive criterion for issuing the
certificate for room controllers is high control accuracy, i.e. minimal
deviation of the actual room temperature from the desired temperature selected
by the user. Studies by the Centre Scientifique et Technique du Bâtiment (CSTB)
in France have shown that energy savings of up to 14% can be achieved by
high-quality individual room controllers with a control quality of 0.1K.
The first certified Desigo controllers are designed for use with fan
coil and radiator heating, reveals the companys press release. The
certificate confirms their extremely good control quality values, for example
for fan coil 0.1K (cooling) and 0.2K (heating). Releases will now be issued
progressively for other applications. Certification of field devices such as
temperature sensors, valves and actuators is in preparation.
