The Oporto Chapter of the Portuguese National Nature Conservation

Conferences, which are taking place from February till May 2008
at Soares dos Reis National Museum,
at Oporto. The conferences are divided in four panels which aim
at covering all existing approaches to sustainable architecture.
On February 23rd there was a first panel on Water Conservation And Rational
Use, which featured a presentation by Elisabete Bertolo, P.E., Hidroprojecto,
on a heating and refrigeration system for buildings that uses sewage, among
others. On the 29th of March there will be another panel on Innovative
Materials And Technologies For Sustainable Construction, which in turn will
focus on comprehensive solutions for sustainability requirements that can be
used by the construction industry such as roof garden systems and ecological
materials.
In April
these conferences will focus on Buildings Sustainability Assessment And
Certification Systems. Therefore, on the 19th presentations will focus on
systems being implemented in different countries, such as the UKs BREEAM
(Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) systems, the
USAs LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) system and
Portugals recently introduced LiderA (Líder pelo Ambiente) systems. Finally, on May 24th there will be a Round Table on Sustainable Cities
