The 5th European Conference on Economics and Management of Energy in Industry follows upon four very successful Conferences in the same subjects which were also held in Portugal in 1984, 1994, 2004 and 2007. This year edition will be held from 14 to 17 April 2009 at Vilamoura, Algarve, Portugal, and will present an opportunity to review major events and developments related to the supply and the demand for energy in industry.

Organized by the Prof. Geoffrey Hammond (University of Bath, United Kingdom), Prof. Robert W. Grubbstrom (Linkoping Institute of Technology, Sweden) and Albino Reis (Cenertec - Centro de Energia e Tecnologia, Portugal), the objective of the Conference is to promote a greater understanding of the Economics of Energy and Management of Energy in Industry through analysis, systems modelling, information exchange and the advancement of energy technology.

The Conference Programme, which will reflect these objectives, will consist of two major elements: keynote papers which will be delivered by internationally recognised authorities; general papers which will be presented in oral and poster sessions.
