Ammonia Refrigeration Technology for Today and Tomorrow,
IIR's (International Institute of Refrigeration) International
Conference, was organized for the second time by Skopje University's
Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. It took place in Ohrid, Macedonia,
from the 19th to the 21st April 2007.
 In this year's edition
there were 105 participants from 30 countries and 39 papers were
presented on the current and future use of ammonia, including low
charge technology, plate type heat exchangers and improvement of energy
efficiency; applications with lower size capacity; ammonia and CO2 in
cascade systems; various applications of ammonia refrigeration in cold
stores, agro-food industries, supermarkets, air-conditioning systems
and heat pumps.
The conference also
included a valuable workshop about operation, maintenance, and
trouble-shooting techniques which was presented and chaired by Brian
Marriott (USA) and Gert Koster (Netherlands).
Furthermore, the
organizer has proposed the establishment of a Natural Refrigerants
Fund. Its aim is the promotion and implementation of technologies that
use natural refrigerants in both developing and developed countries.
Finally, many participants suggested 2009 for the conference's next
edition. |
