Tridium, the leading provider of device to
enterprise automation, announced that it will collaborate with Belimo to develop a next generation VAV
(variable air volume) controller featuring the Sedona Framework. The Sedona
Framework is Tridiums newest automation platform targeted at
application-specific controllers, smart sensors and other types of intelligent
edge devices.
As
the leader in damper actuators, Belimo will integrate the capabilities of the
Sedona Framework into its actuator platforms adding temperature control and
communications to the pressure independent control that is available
today. With Sedonas communication
options, Belimo will give customers a VAV controller that is both BACnet
compliant and can alternately communicate wirelessly over a 802.15.4 mesh
network to dramatically lower the installation costs for the controller and
associated space temperature sensor.
A partnership with Belimo for a next generation
VAV controller is an ideal example of where the Sedona Framework can provide an
innovative and cost effective solution for this high volume segment, said Steve Fey, President of Tridium. In addition, once installed in the field,
Sedona-based VAV controllers will be 100% compatible and interoperable with
building automation systems based on the NiagaraAX Framework. The Sedona
Framework will be officially released in the fourth quarter of 2008, reveals
the companys press release. |
