Novatec Biosol, a company expertise in solar research and development, has initiated its operations in Spain with the inauguration of a thermo solar power plant Puerto Errado 1 in Calasparra, Murcia, the first of five projects that will achieve a production of more than 90 MW. The new power plant is the world’s first Linear Fresnel Solar Power Plant that generates aqueous vapour designed to electricity production, as well as to diverse industrial processes.

According to the company’s press release, Novatec Biosol represents a landmark in the history of solar energy since the new technology allows the low cost production of aqueous vapour. This technology uses several rows of flat mirrors, instead of cylindrical-parabolic collectors, which have significant advantages from both an economical and environmental point of view.

“Due to its geographical position and due to its investment in clean energies, Spain is one of our investment destinies in the next years. For that reason, we have chosen this country to be the first to implement the Linear Fresnel technology, being a pioneer in thermo solar energy,” said Martin Selig, CEO of Novatec Biosal AG, that will open a further plant, Puerto Errado 2, which will produce 30 Mw and will employ 80 persons.
